What You Need to Know – FAQS

The Centre is open from 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, except for a two-week break over Christmas and on gazetted public holidays. The Director will advise parents on the dates of the Christmas break with plenty of notice.

See our page – What We Provide – for a comprehensive list.

We don’t currently have this option, but it may be possible in the future. Please contact us regarding enrolment and how we can best assist you.

As per government regulations, as of January 2018, all children must be fully immunised before attending our centre. A copy of immunisation records must be given on enrolment.

We believe in an open-door policy where you are always welcome to pop in at any time even if it’s only for a few minutes. We love having visitors. Throughout the year we have visits from church folk, the ministers of the Baptist Church, Board members, early intervention and support groups e.g. speech therapists.

Children are given the opportunity for a sleep each day. We support the aims and objective of “SIDS and Kids” in reducing the risks associated with sleeping, and we endorse their recommendations.

We love to celebrate birthdays and the children are welcome to bring in a plain cake for their birthday – these are discussed with Educators so that parents are aware of allergies. When it is an Educator’s birthday we will celebrate with the children and share a piece of cake with them. You can always opt your child out of having cake.

The best people to talk to first are either your child’s Room Leader or the Centre Director. They can usually answer any questions or concerns that you may have. If you wish to speak to someone on the Board, you can speak to the Chairman whose phone number is available in the centre.

If your child attends Janelle Street Centre, you are very welcome to speak to your child’s Room Leader or the Centre Director.

We don’t provide food for the children, but rather, they bring packed morning and afternoon tea, and lunch. We are a nut-free centre. Across the centre we do cooking experiences with the children and in these experiences, we endeavour to cater for children with allergies. As noted above, we do celebrate birthdays and you are very welcome to send in treats to be kept for your children when cake is shared. When you drop in, or call, to enquire about enrolling, please let us know about your child’s allergies and we can chat with you about the issues.
